C4641

Naval Brass comprises a copper-zinc alloy in a 60:40 proportion, enriched with around 1% tin to enhance its resistance against corrosion, particularly dezincification. This alloy adopts a dual-phase alpha-beta composition, resulting in a commendable strength profile albeit exhibiting lower ductility compared to the single-phase 70:30 or alpha brass. Its applications encompass structural contexts and forgings, especially in environments where exposure to seawater might induce corrosion. The mechanical characteristics bear a striking resemblance to those of 60:40 brass C4641, although the inclusion of tin generally imparts slightly elevated strength. CW619N can be effectively subjected to hot working and is also amenable to cold working, albeit not as seamlessly as the single-phase alpha brasses.
